What Is Quiz Bowl?

Quiz Bowl is family of games that involve answering a broad range of random, organized questions, frequently known as Academic or Scholar's Bowl among other names, and usually pits groups of middle, high school and college level students against each other in a number of different academic challenges. Putting that into plain English, it's pretty much "Team Jeopardy," with a few simple twists in gameplay. Not only is Quiz Bowl a good opportunity for students to enjoy themselves, but is also called an effective academic tool, teaching memorization and study skills, as well as responsibility and teamwork. With the season wrapping up, we decided to ask some of our Quiz Bowl members what they thought about their experiences on the team this year as well as Quiz Bowl in general.      

1: How many years have you been on Quiz Bowl?

2: Do you think Quiz Bowl is an effective learning experience?

3: Are there any subjects (math, sciences) that you particularly excel at, or do you consider yourself well rounded?

4: What was the most fun individual experience you had during the Quiz Bowl season so far?

5: Bacon.

1: This is my third year.

2: I certainly do.

3: Well rounded, but I get quite a few "Pop Art" ones.

4: I don't know... "Mother Jones" incident maybe.

5: Baconilicious!

Bo:

1: This is my 2nd year.

2: Yes, sure.

3: I'm amazing at all aspects of Quiz Bowl.

4: Getting "Jan Vermeer" correct, that was a highlight.

5: Yes

1: 4 Years.

2: Yes I do, a very good one.

3: Not well rounded, but decent at Literature and good with Theater too.

4: Every single match was pretty fun.

5: I Don't Eat Bacon.

Devin:

1: 5 years.

2: A well rounded experience.

3: I am the undisputed king of Presidential facts.

4: "The Salahi's."

5: President Ronald Reagan

1: This is my 2nd year.

2: Yes I do, it has expanded my knowledge, in general.

3: I know very little about everything.

4: When Mike got a question right by saying "for holding their urine for too long."

5: Love it, I will eat bacon with anything.

Alan:

1: 5 years.

2: Oh definitely.

3: I'm the best guesser of all time.

4: Guessing "10" and being right on a math question.
