Word Solving Prompts

·        Ask, “What do you know about this word?”

·        Look at the pictures.

·        Look for smaller parts you know.

·        Have you seen that word in another place where you knew it? Check.

·        Have another go. Begin at the beginning of the sentence (or paragraph or page) and reread.

·        Skip the word, read ahead, and come back. What would make sense?

·        Try different pronunciations for some of the letters especially vowels.

·        Ask yourself...                                   

              Does it look right?

              Does it sound right?

              Does it make sense?
