Westport Central School District is committed to providing all students, including those students with disabilities, with a free and appropriate education within the least restrictive environment. It is the goal of the district is to have students with disabilities meet the New York State learning standards. Students with disabilities require a variety of programs in order meet their academic, social, physical, and management needs. The district is committed to developing programs which address student needs. Therefore, the district is continually reviewing the programs and services that are offered. Annually the district develops and refines the continuum of services for students with disabilities to enable access to the general education curriculum with age appropriate peers.
In addition to considering student’s needs, student data such as graduation rates and student achievement are analyzed in order to develop appropriate special education programming which will target specific areas of student need.
